Hello, welcome to our class. Our teacher is Ms Sutton-Reid and our teaching assistants are Mrs Coker and Mrs Evans.
Click on the pictures and links to find out more about what we are studying in our lessons and resources that you can access from home.
The children have been listening to the story of “Harry the Poisonous Centipede”. We are working on our descriptive writing, exploring how to describe the creatures Harry meets and his adventures.
During this half term, we have been securing our knowledge of place value. We are considering how numbers are ordered and can be compared.
We are learning about human and animal bodies. We have compared the differences between teeth in different animals and drawn conclusions about their diet. The children enjoyed taking part in a “Plaque Attack” investigation (using yeast and sugar) to help us to visualise why it is important to take care of our teeth. We are now learning about the digestive system, including the names of the organs and their functions.
Our topic this half term is “Inspirational People”. We learnt about Edward Jenner and the importance of his discoveries. We will also be learning about the inspirational actions of Rosa Parks and J K Rowling. The children have been asked to do a half termly project about an inspirational famous person. I have heard some of their ideas and they sound amazing. I can’t wait to see the complete projects!
We also celebrated the European Day of Languages where we learnt the story of “Le Quatre Amis” and the children quickly picked up the important French vocabulary needed to retell the story. They have been making puppets to re-enact the story. We have started learning the song “Un éléphant qui se balançait” and the children have been picking up the lyrics rapidly.
